A short praise-like intro about the Bellular Team
Bellular News, the best (subjective opinion) gaming news YouTube channel, or rather their parent company Bellular Studios managed to publish their first game - The Pale Beyond.
To honor that they pulled a double Double Fine and published a documentary series (at this moment not yet fully published) about their process.
And I’m all in, as I’m a sucker for any “making of” documentaries, be it books, movies, or games.
If you have watched Bellular News for a while you did not learn at the very beginning that they are actually making a game on the side. Or rather the news channel is on the side of actually making a game. I did not learn that for a while.
Once I learned that it wasn’t much of a surprise (it was like learning that someone reading science-fiction & fantasy is actually writing it and hiding it in the drawer 😉).
It's a funny thing, actually. Because it leads me to some conclusions…

Bellular guys are not the only ones.
You have Thomas Brush (you knew I would mention him, didn’t you?), who went on to create a YouTube channel and later video game-creating courses.
And Tim Ruswick, also a YouTuber, is now enjoying his marriage.
Aspiring video game creators make their own YouTube channels. Then Discords, some Patreons, and so on. And yes, I know that what they’re actually doing is marketing, building community, and getting earlier in touch with their future customers.
But still, it makes me wonder. These people provide a lot of additional value. But how much percentage of the day it takes away from them? Time which they could invest in making the game. You have to market your game, sure, but apparently, they are doing it very in a very time-consuming way. I’m not even thinking about people who have a day job, family, dog, and Netflix wishlist.
I’m a naive introvert. I thought that participating in #ScreenshotSaturday would be enough…

Mark Brown decided to take a break from documenting making his video game about magnets and provided us with the juicy stuff 😉 You gotta feel interested if the title says “How to Steal Like a Game Designer”!

I have one question for you!
I'm searching for a tool that would allow me to set a precursor for a task for easier planning. Can't find one. Any ideas?
