I recently read that to be more productive one should... stop using the mouse!
When you think about it, the mouse is as comfortable as it is distracting. If your work is all about typing, every moment you move your hand to the mouse you're basically content switching. I am exaggerating, but only a little 😉
There are some weird people that can work on a keyboard only. I hear they are fast. Some people claim that all this clicking slows us down. I guess they are right, in some sense.
I did some research asking around whether anyone tried to work only on their keyboard. Did learn a lot!
First of all, it's apparently possible! But mostly on Linux.
It's also not for everyone. A friend of mine tried that and then said he actually went back for the mouse. It wasn't productive to make a 3D model without a mouse (and no, he was not from game development).
Is it worth it? I guess so.
Is it possible? Maybe.
The real question is...
What I can and cannot do using only a keyboard only?
Which applications will cooperate and which will not?
So far, I know some applications won’t work well. Like, almost every website.
Some need to be replaced. And can be replaced partially. Like PowerPoint. If you use it, because if you don’t then you’re one lucky man ;-)
The things do some people do, to become more… focused?
And how’s learning Godot, you ask? Slowly progressing! ;-)
