If you have too little time, find yourself more duties! | Gamedev Dairy #68
Hacks for learning, productivity, having work-life-passion balance and finally game development!
Trying some new stuff this month!
Today’s issue will be short and nice, but full of things to share!
There’s a Chinese saying: if you have too little time, find yourself more duties. Why am I saying this? Well, I… bought a dog… A black four-month-old labrador to be exact. My work-life-passion balance will now have to make time for walking the dog.
Why you’d ask? Well, to get more movement, since I do have a sitting job. Also because of DIY animal-assisted therapy 😉 Sometimes I have to walk and think. No kindle, no phone. Helps to reorder the mind.
He’s also adorable AF 😍

Also, I was accepted to test Tana!

Welcome to the future of work. Build anything. Use it for everything. Kill your SaaS subscriptions.
I cannot send invites to anyone, unfortunately… But if you ask them to put you on your wishlist you might get as lucky as I am and get access.
I found this app interesting as it builds upon the same ideas Workflowy and Dynalist did, only adds some nice ideas! It might become my next Life OS, who knows…

Some time ago, in the dawn of Kickstarter campaigns the documentary about Broken Age’s creation process. It was very enjoyable, I would risk saying it was more enjoyable than the game itself ;-)
Guess what, they will now share a documentary series about the Psychonauts 2 creation:
Have you heard the story of Hyper Light Drifter? Here’s a fun recap ;-)
And here’s an even more fun documentary about the sequel. Hope the designer’s heart will survive until the game’s release.
I would like to express my sympathy for Conrad, an indie game creator making a Paper Mario clone (the world needs more Nintendo game clones, people! let’s make that happen!), who got cheated by his publisher, who apparently, is a piece of shit…
It is a terrible feeling to have someone take advantage of your hard work and trust, especially when it comes to something as personal and important as one's creative expression. I can only imagine how difficult this situation must be for Conrad. It is a sad reality that many people in the creative industries have to deal with, and it highlights the importance of being vigilant and protecting oneself against such exploitation. Unfortunately, Conrad was forced to go for the nuclear option…
