Resetting learning progress with AI!
I didn't get much done in March. I had to retire my old laptop, deal with Covid, and to top it off, my dog decided to eat my homework 😉 So yeah, work came to a screeching halt.
But hey, I did something I'm really good at - overthinking!
Inspired by the mindset of entrepreneurs who prioritize action over research, and all those chats at work and within the industry about how to use AI to become a better programmer.
I thought, why not harness AI not only for work but also for learning? Whether it's Lua or GDScript, it shouldn't matter; with AI, one can probably tackle anything.
Since I enjoy analyzing, and overthinking is my bread and butter, I'll start with planning!
This is what I came up with. And I know you guys on the Internet like hand-drawn stuff 😉
Well, I’ll start by breaking down my work (or rather my target game) into milestones, features, components, subcomponents, and finally tasks!
I'll plan out each task to achieve it as fast as possible using the knowledge I already have. Without much research if I don't have to. Unless I hit a roadblock during planning and feel justified in doing research.
This way will help me cut off any pursuit of perfectionism. It just needs to be good enough!
Whenever I need to write code, I'll make AI do it (like Codeium, for instance). To make my life easier, I'll handle code design and expect AI to provide the function's content. That way, it'll be easier for me to analyze the code.
And I'll take notes.
What I used, what I skipped (and I will skip something; after all, it's about being good, not perfect). And make quick tutorials for later reference, or maybe some flashcards to reinforce my knowledge?
So, let’s get to it… I think I already wrote somewhere about breaking down work for Pong 😉 Need to recheck my notes.
