2024 is ending one week from now.
I'm on Christmas leave right now, I'm already thinking about 2025.
Here's what's my aim in the next year:
A game. Yes, seriously
This will not be an original game.
It might as well be Pong.
The goal is to make this game to familiarize myself with Raylib and create a process.
This process is not only about making a game but also about everything surrounding it:
building it in public (if I choose this way),
publishing it (on Itch, most likely),
how to test it,
how to plan it,
how to automate everything,
how to efficiently involve Al, etc.
A game design notebook
As every procrastinator, I value research very highly.
Both postmortems and channels by game designers like Mike Darrah, Tim Cain, and Masahiro Sakurai.
The last one provides a lot of interesting insight into game design.
It's an almost-ready checklist to help design games 😉
Roadmap for making an RPG
I'm also reading the C-RPG Book and noticing the subtle benefit of reading game descriptions in the order of release years.
Every game is more complex, and listing these might help me design a roadmap (an order) of features to implement in an RPG.
It might prove useful once I start making those RPGs 😉
The fate of my curated Godot newsletter
Even if I'm not learning Godot, I will continue to make my Godot Weekly newsletter.
Why? Well, I earned $10 on it so far, and I get great feedback every once in a while.
I might strike gold with it yet!
Especially given that I'm documenting my process and might release it as an e-book (you can join a waitlist on Gumroad).
So...
good luck with your new game :)
